Edge computing is computation that occurs at or near the user's or data source's physical location, resulting in decreased latency and bandwidth savings. Because of that, you benefit from faster, more reliable services with better user experiences, while businesses benefit from being better able to support latency-sensitive applications. Edge computing also allows using technologies such as AI/ML analysis to identify trends and offer better products and services by bringing computing services closer to these locations.
At Aptus, we have a broad offering of Edge devices which can be used in different settings. Think of automotive, railway, indoor and outdoor. The Edge devices support various protocols like OPC-UA, CAN-bus and Modbus. We typically run an Azure IoT Edge agent on the edge device allowing us to have a secure way of maintaining and managing the devices placed in the field.
