Case

Galloo was founded in 1939 and is a recycling company that is one of the most important recycling companies of ferrous and non-ferrous metals in Western Europe. Galloo has branches in Belgium, France and Zeeuws-Vlaanderen and is a fixture in this sector. In concrete terms, it is committed to recycling in an ecological way. For example, they convert waste products into secondary raw materials. Galloo is a company that continues to grow, innovate and digitise.

Case

Until recently, the logistic process at Galloo was entirely manual. This was accompanied by many accompanying offline documents. It was the ideal moment to digitize this process.

Solution

We were presented with Galloo's entire logistical flow. We set to work on digitising and automating this as much as possible.

How did we do this?

There are stacks on the Galloo site. The piles are real piles with a specific type of waste. The truck driver entering the site first goes over the weighbridge. Then he receives a weighing slip at the reception desk. With the receipt he drives on to the site and has his receipt scanned by the authorized wheel loader driver. Thanks to a PWA that we have developed, the wheel loader driver knows where the load may be placed. The location of the stack is also stored, so the wheel loader driver has an overview of all the loads and can keep track of them.

We've also provided an admin section. In it there is an overview of all contracts (= agreements with suppliers). It is also the place where all stacks are presented in a clear way. For each stack, several interesting dates are presented. Such as weight, the processing status, the location where it is located on the site and what material it is about.

Hardware

You don't just know the location of each pile. For this, we provide a robust GPS tag that can take a beating. This tag is placed on a stand near the stacks. In the case of a new stack, the wheel loader driver scans the stack and adds some relevant information. He can then observe the tag on his floor plan and new loads can be added.
